If you have original Medicare, you should still be covered if you move to a U.S. territory. If you have a Medicare Advantage plan, however, you will need to check if your plan will cover you in the new location. You should also be able to still receive Social Security benefits while living in a U.S. territory. Medicaid, however, is a state-based plan. You will need to apply for benefits in the territory to find out if you are eligible there. These rules only apply to U.S. territories. If you move outside the United States or its territories, you can no longer receive Medicare or Medicaid benefits. For more information about this, click here.
